Essential oil

Ylang Ylang

Latin name : Cananga odorata genuina

Ylang Ylang is obtained by steam distillation from the flowers. Originating from Madagascar this sweet, exotic and deeply floral essential oil with its name meaning 'flower of flowers '. Part of the Annonaceae family (Magnolia). A tall fast growing tropical tree, growing up to 35 metres but usually kept at around 3 metres when grown as a commercial crop. It produces a long and penetrating taproot, and flowers from the second year. The flowers are numerous, large, fragrant, and pale yellow-green, getting more fragrant and yellow with age. Flowering is often year round.

Ylang Ylang has been used for years for its sensual & aphrodisiac properties and for personal adornment. It is useful to aid in tension and stress with its soothing & relaxing actions and helping soothe anger and grief.

Ylang Ylang blends well with Vetiver, Bergamot, Jasmine & Rose.
